What I so really want in life is to inspire people to visit the idea that we be moved in witness to one another. (tweetable!)
We can be progressively spirited into a future where we care how the neighbor down the street is doing. We so honor where someone is in their recovery (or their inability to stop using.) We decorate the challenge and unforgiving loss, the power of utter joy, true safety, insane forgetfulness before it turns into Dementia.
My aim is to be the Connector. I want to hear the story and then regurgitate it lovingly for someone else to see the glory of it, without embellishment or having to put it out there, crystal clear. I want THEM to make the connection in their own time, own home, from the perspective of a fog into daylight.
I want to share a story and have one more person speak that miracle out loud. That leads to hundreds more shares, thousands, millions. I want everyone to understand what it is like to live with Alzheimer’s, Autism, a genius four and 3/4 year old, ten dogs in the house, a closet crammed with more shit than anyone needs in a lifetime, a family of eleven, addiction, play, poverty, richness beyond imagination, screams of fabulous health that won’t stop for anything.
And demonstrate willing compassion, frank understanding, infinite commitment, self-assurance that things can be accepted as they are.
No need to fix, sort, destroy, frustrate, change, adjust, plead.
A willingness to take the photograph and let it stand on its own.
That is what I really want in my life.
To be the vehicle for the story.
We can never truly know the impact of our little lives…until we look in the eye of the audience, and in that split second, witness the truth of ourselves.
What do YOU really, really want?
