Dear Client:
By helping you sort the clothes carelessly tossed to the carpet, downsize mounds of paper and other not-so-important documents, toss used qtips/photo negatives/old makeup caked to the sides of plastic tubes, wipe away layers of distinguished dust, donate solid stimulating teen goods while you quip about your history - I gain everything.
Your life is unraveling before my eyes, churning and stretching, evolving and enhancing the air in the basement room. Even the dog gets enthused, barking for no good reason from upstairs. The chaos brings a bit of angst and disheveled protest. I ignore the sighs and keep the tilt of my voice high and bright. The balance tips towards energy that perpetuates momentum and off you go again.
How can you know just how special, precious, and important you are to those in your life? Meals are spread on the table, bills arrive in the mailbox, the sun comes up and goes down again, the world turns. And there you are, with all of your memories, experiences, state of mind that joins with the constituents from your County and beyond.
Every positive thought, idea, path you took, brings you here today. Grinding through your past, eclectically brilliant your daughter’s 15 years on the planet, hesitant wife, the one-eyed dog, fresh-water and squirmish box turtles, enormous plecostomus fish, glowing frog, and fragile tetras are connected. And now I am, to you.
Thank you. For your courage, consistency, light-heartedness, bravery, expressive, and interesting self.
I appreciate your sharing the few hours of ripping through the rubble.
I’m touched.
Love,
Paula
