I’m a victim of Paper Passion.
The number of pieces of paper on the floor, desktop, other side of the bed, in baskets, piles, stuffed in my purse, vinyl messenger bag, and anywhere/everywhere else is astronomical.
How is that possible when I “just” processed through all of my “in” box papers a few weeks ago.
What happened?
Are they breeding on their own while I’m asleep?
I understand, unless I have a current, workable system that I can easily duplicate, I get lost in my own shuffle of reams of paper.
So you’re not alone with your Stuff Cluster!
My solution is to get back to the basics. Call out for help from the experts and get my crap in order. Not having a solid place to live caused so much chaos. Don't need to put it off, I can certainly focus for a few hours and get it put together so I can find what I need for tax preparation, my birth certificate for travel, and my Will and other inportant documents in two minutes. I know what to do and get it done.
I can be there when you forget, get distracted, stranded, cast away, left to your own devices.
Downsizing is Support in Disguise.
I often work with clients whose shoulders have a constant slope, as though apologizing for their addiction to stuff.
I hear:
“I should be able to do this on my own!!”
"I can open a book
head off to Youtube
watch a morning show
Google it
find my notes from various seminars/webinars/podcasts/TedTalks
I STILL can’t get it done!”
“What’s my problem? Why is it SO HARD?”
I totally understand!
We’re victims of habit, routine, ritual, consistency, repeated behaviors that come naturally after just trying them a few times.
We lose momentum easily.
We find it’s far easier to give up on ourselves, somehow, than keep the tortured force going.
I will be that Mother (you may require for a time,) to propel you to clean up your room!
Yet, I don’t nag. I encourage and reward best behavior.
AND, while working with me, you’re a Giver, a Contributor, Altruistic, Benevolent, a Do-Gooder!!!
Youth at Risk, Battered Women, recently incarcerated folks, the Elderly, Food-Deprived Teens, new immigrants, People seeking asylum, abandoned animals, Down-and-Out Men all benefit from the goods you choose to part with.
Isn’t that nice?
So, Call Me Now!!
I promise you’ll feel better about your too-many things.
