Can you say "Job well done?"

The closer I get to the end, the longer it takes.

Seems ridiculous, eh?

Guess again.

I’m currently working on a clean-out for a client who’s reconfiguring the home office and guest bedroom. We shuffled all of the smaller items from the office to the hallway. The client's job is to choose things to go into the following bins:

  1. To Go

  2. Repair

  3. Sell

  4. Donate

  5. Giveaway

  6. Relocate

  7. Recycle

Everything that could be whisked away to it’s destination, went.

The same Program above tackled the guest room.

The furniture was next.

We knew from the diagram she drew, what items were staying and where they'd be placed in the next room.

Out it all came, from the office and into the hallway.

The guest room furnishings got moved one-by-one into the office space.

The pile of stuff from both rooms, that were too "uncomfortable to part with" or didn’t quite “fit” into either room sits in the hallway, deserted and ignored.

When we DO manage to nearly complete the project, we expect:

  • Drum Roll

  • Circus Clowns to appear

  • Balloons would even be a nice touch

The question to ask is…

What do I need to do RIGHT NOW?

Do that, then the next thing that pops into your head.

Diminish the mound, one thing at a time, until it is gone.

Give yourself a time limit.

Circle the date on the calendar.

Bring what is left on that given day, to the back seat of the car,

to drop off at the donation spot.

Oh, there are those endorphins!

THERE is that sense of satisfaction.

Do a Big Happy Dance!
