Lines for fines.

The library vacuum will have one less bag refill.

One less roll of toilet tissue rests in the bathroom stall.

Two less copies of the latest events flyer sit on the counter.

The floor has a slightly thinner coat of varnish.

The lights had to be turned off one minute ahead of schedule.

The paperback price downstairs increased by $.01.

Their library leaf blower had to knock off a few minutes early.

People assumed the doors would have to close.

And no one would have access to free books and such.

All because I wrote this poem and wiped-out my $1 fine.

At the South Portland Library.
