It's a Dog Day Morning (and afternoon)

I was up and at'um, like Adam Ant yesterday morning at 6:00.

Took the dogs for a lip smackin', tail waggin' brisk walk. They got another trot at 4:30pm.

You'd think that would suffice for the week but NOOOOO!!

They were up, snuffling at my ear this morning at 5:45, awaiting their canter.

If dogs, in one damned day, can switch their routine, why does it take me days, weeks, months, to get a habit formed?

I meditate one day (sort of successfully, if I take away the 18 out of 30 minutes checking my To Do List) and the next day, I forget I ever meditated at any point in my life!

Zip.

Gone.

How can I learn from the dogs?

What would it take to integrate something I WANT, WISH, NEED, DREAM OF HAVING in my life and make it stick?

  • Set alarm after alarm with an annoying bell?

  • Sleep in my workout clothes?

  • Create a reminder?

  • Solicit a friend to join me on my walks so as not to disappoint her, I go, NO MATTER WHAT?

Getting closer!!

How about I generate a list of why I want to do this thing?

What will I get out of it?

When can I declare it a habit and reward myself?

Where will this get me in my life goals?

Who needs to be In The Know about it?

So, when the dogs (cat, bird, boyfriend, kid, boss, Universe) calls it good…

Follow suit!
