We, the people, live the Past or Future. It's what we do best. We create an interpretation about what happened and Run-with-it-like-the-Wolves on a hunt. The Future, filled with fear, closed opportunities, failure, causes stumbling forward 'til you fall on your face and break your nose. It kills you before it even arrives. Future's crafty like that!
You KNOW it's all in your head, yet, you can't help your Self.
FRET FUCKS you over. Runs you down like a delayed train making it's way to the station. This is what we do best as a species, as a collective, listening to others, reading the news, sucking-in the naysayers, the fearful, and imprisoned.
One of my close friend's has early onset Alzheimer's. She used to be an incredibly angry person. Now, in her state, she cannot hold onto the flame of fury. She is forced (or encouraged?) to let go of things that don't glue her to the emotions. The surface is smooth and impenetrable. It glistens with cheer, laughter, smiles that seem to have come from her childhood, because I don't recognize them at all. Her Glee seeps out into the energy around the room, out the door as it opens, and seeks those who suffer. The entire Village could be elated because of her.
Who knows?
How do I get that freedom of detachment without the effects of Alzheimer's? What would it be like to take my Envious Coat off and be okay with where I am. In this moment. And this moment. And the next?
What a gift to discount Worry. To reduce Angst to ash. Pat Thwarted Love on the back in acknowledgment and show them the door. Dream with Great Well-Being, hand-in-hand. And bless Profit, as though this moment is all that counts.
We need NOT have memory issues to be free of FRET. We don't have to experience on-going Regret for the Past and Anxiety of the Future.
Pull-in the idea that YOU ARE ENOUGH, I AM ENOUGH, WE ARE ENOUGH and cloud your mind with it.
Face Mis-communications. Deem Negative Speculation wrong. Be generous with your Creative Imagination. For where it lives, is BEST for you, me, us.
Play with fire. Ask the tough questions of your Self. Be willing to spoil the show.
Laugh. Heartily.
Now go be with someone who's got memory issues. Learn from them. About the Present Moment. And how precious it is. Ask them, on a Soul level, for help. Even the questions taking them to the empty space will help you. The freedom of a mind vacant of thought, mis-interpretation, and saga. It's wondrous.
