It's one thing to have a successful YARD SALE and a completely different animal to sell stuff online. It takes strategy, commitment, persistency, consistency, and patience. I have one or two of those more often than not, throughout the day. If I am working the market, active, getting results, and meeting people with cash in hand, I'm SO happy!
We all believe our stuff is valuable, worth AT LEAST what we paid for it. When searching online, we get SUPER EXCITED about the highest prices that match our goodies. However, those BIG DOLLAR signs may be deceiving. An item is only valuable when you have a buyer.
What's REALLY selling now?
The Millennials ARE driving sales. What they love, desire, NEED, is creating the re-sale market. They make the PUSH, they drive the train, decide where the stops are, and make the destination even more lucrative. If you want to know if XYZ is going to sell, find a Millennial and ask them. If they squeal in delight, you've got a winner.
Here are some key items that SELL, SELL, SELL consistently:
Small tables (side tables, foyer tables, end tables, accent tables, console tables)
These are versatile and handy to move around the room, based on need. Place a plant on them, excess office supplies, magazines and coasters. Put them under a window, near the doorway, hall, nooks and crannies. Especially handy are tables with drawers and/or a shelf.
Low bookcases
Again, versatility counts. Place them anywhere they fit. Can be used for books as well as collectables, clothing and toys. These can go under the window to hold photos, plants, artwork, and lamps.
Lamps with shades
Little lamps go on a nightstand. Stand-up lamps sit next to the chair or sofa for reading. Lamps for the end table, or greeting the entryway on a console table. Mix and match works too!
*Buyers prefer solid shades.
Upholstered furniture
Anything upholstered must be less than 6 years old. Period.
Pure silver jewelry and gold jewelry pieces
Area rugs under 8 x 10
Runner rugs of any size
Glassware - modern, stemless or tall stemware (no colored glass or gold rims)
TIP:
The better it looks, the more money in your pocket!
Wood shines, glass sparkles, upholstery is cleaned and fluffed.
